The Sound of Heaven will overwhelm you with the passion and intensity of the worship that flows from Terry and those who have joined him for this live worship recording, though it may not amaze you with its production. The heart cry of those involved with this album is more than evident. They are people with a driving passion to honor God with their lives and their song.

Stylistically, the music may have a bit of a "dated" sound to some. But then again, so does Chopin and Bach, which makes them no less wonderful. I was raised in a mainline Pentecostal denomination. The keyboard styling that Terry brings to this album reminds me very much of my early musical encounters at church. Terry is an extremely gifted pianist. Sometimes that can work against an artist. However, in Terry's case, it is balanced with a heart of humility. Consequently, what flows from him is a musical excellence that ministers to rather then entertains the hearers.

The album offers us some current, as well as past, favorites. "Here I Am To Worship" is the most recent song. From there Terry reaches back for some favorites of "yesteryear": "I Stand in Awe" (Mark Altrogge), "O the Glory" (Steven Fry). There are five songs on the album authored by Terry, one of them co-authored with one of the singers, Shauna Chanda. The album builds in strength as it leads us to the last song, "How We Need The River." I felt like this song did a great job culminating the worship experience for me. The song has very much of a "revival" feel to it. It is a passionate appeal to God to meet us again and fill our lives with Himself for the purpose of offering true spirit worship unto Him.

No matter what your stylistic preferences are, if you have a heart for worship you cannot help but get caught up in the spirit of this recording. As you listen to this album you will find comfort, peace, passionate worship and a cry for revival. I wouldn't hesitate adding it to your worship music collection.
